The rumours were true and the next '2D' game in the Metroid series is coming on 28th January 2027.
Metroid Ravenous is a Switch 2 exclusive continuing Samus' story after 2021's Metroid Dread and sees the bounty hunter devouring enemies in an "eat or be eaten" scenario. Sounds fun!
